The husband of Irma Garcia, one of the teachers killed in Tuesday’s gruesome mass school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, has died. Joe Garcia, 50, suffered a “medical emergency” on Thursday, just two days after the massacre at Robb Elementary School, where 19 children and two teachers, including his wife, Irma, were fatally shot. Joe delivered flowers to his wife’s memorial on Thursday morning. When he returned home, he collapsed, according to Irma’s nephew, John Martinez, who tweeted about his uncle’s death . MLB suspends Josh Donaldson for Tim Anderson 'Jackie' remark

Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson has been suspended for one game and will be fined for using racist language towards star White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, per The Post’s Jon Heyman. Anderson revealed after Saturday’s game that Donaldson had called him “Jackie,” which he believed to be a racially-charged reference to Jackie Robinson. Donaldson insisted he was just joking, and that it was a reference to when Anderson called himself “today’s Jackie Robinson” in a Sports Illustrated feature. Donaldson will appeal the suspension. He was also added to the COVID-19 IL earlier in the day.

PGA Championship 2022 picks, predictions, field, favorites, odds: Golf expert says back Scottie Scheffler

Eight years ago, Rory McIlroy won his second PGA Championship and fourth overall major. That prompted Jack Nicklaus to say McIlroy could win “15 or 20 majors,” but the Irishman is still sitting on four entering the 2022 PGA Championship. Golf’s second major, the PGA Championship 2022 starting Thursday at Southern Hills will provide another chance for McIlroy to notch that elusive fifth major, an accolade only seven other living golfers can claim. The top two players in the world, No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and No. 2 Jon Rahm, top the 2022 PGA Championship odds at 11-1 according to Caesars Sportsbook. A total of nine golfers have 20-1 PGA Championship odds 2022 or shorter, including Justin Thomas (14-1), McIlroy (14-1) and Jordan Spieth (20-1). Before you make any 2022 PGA Championship picks, you need to see what proven golf insider Sal Johnson has to say. Jermell Charlo vs. Brian Castano 2 fight results, highlights: Charlo becomes undisputed champ with vicious KO

The first fight between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano was a thriller with an inconclusive result as the four-belt junior middleweight unification ended in a split draw. The two rematched on Saturday night with both men looking to make a statement. The two did just that as both delivered thrilling moments in the ring before Charlo scored a knockout in Round 10 to become the division’s undisputed king. The fight got off to a delayed start after Castano arrived late to Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson California. With Jaron “Boots” Ennis handling business in the co-feature in just two rounds, Castano needed time to have his hands wrapped, work up a sweat and get gloved up. If the delay in the start of the fight had any impact on Charlo, he did not let it show. Charlo immediately showed some key adjustments to the July 2021 clash with Castano, pumping out a steady diet of jabs and being far less content to stay with his back to the ropes as Castano bulled forward. Castano would

Transgender medication law in Alabama blocked by judge

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A federal judge on Friday blocked part of an Alabama law that made it a felony to prescribe gender-affirming puberty blockers and hormones to transgender minors. U.S. District Judge Liles Burke issued a preliminary injunction to stop the state from enforcing the medication ban, which took effect May 8, while a lawsuit goes forward. The ruling was a victory for families and advocacy groups who challenged the first-of-its-kind law as an illegal intrusion into family and medical decisions. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey referred to the ruling as a “temporary legal roadblock.” Alabama’s state attorney general indicated he will appeal. “This ruling means that parents of transgender children in Alabama will continue to be able to make the healthcare decisions that are best for their families. It is an extraordinary relief. Parents should not be punished for wanting to do what’s best for their kids,” said Jennifer Levi, director of the transgender rights project for GLBTQ

San Jose kidnapping suspects made at least 2 other attempts

The man and woman accused of kidnapping a 3-month-old boy in San Jose last month tried to take the infant more than once, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday. Yesenia Ramirez, 43, and Jose Portillo, 28, were charged at a bail hearing Thursday with trying to take Brandon Cuellar multiple times before, the district attorney’s office said in a statement. They both face prison time if convicted.  “There are few things more terrifying than someone stealing a child, as if they’re a car or a wallet,” DA Jeff Rosen said. “The more we investigate this case and the more troubling it gets, the more determined we are to prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law.” Ramirez and Portillo allegedly made at least two other attempts to kidnap the child before succeeding on April 25. In the first attempt on March 14, Portillo posed as a Child Protective Services worker who said the child needed to be removed from his home because of

Warriors vs. Grizzlies score, takeaways: Memphis keeps playoff hopes alive with Game 5 win over Golden State

The Memphis Grizzlies kept their postseason hopes alive on Wednesday night with their dominant win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 at FedExForum as they came away with a 134-95 victory. Memphis received contributions from up and down their roster as seven players finished the win having scored in double figures.  With the victory, the Grizzlies avoid elimination and now force a Game 6 in San Francisco to potentially line up a do-or-die Game 7 matchup in Memphis, should they win in California this Friday. Here are the three primary takeaways from Game 5. 1. Not quite the worst blowout in playoff history. Golden State took itself out of the history books 28-15 fourth quarter, but before that, this game had a chance to be historic. The biggest blowout in playoff history was a 58-point win for the 2009 Denver Nuggets over the then-New Orleans Hornets. The Grizzlies led by 55 in the third quarter. Had they pushed for it, they might’ve won by 60 or 70. We know for a fact that t

Johnny Depp NOT Dating His Female Attorney, Despite Social Media Speculation

Johnny Depp has been super friendly with one of his attorneys, but even if you see smoke … we’re here to tell ya, there’s no fire. Sources connected to Camille Vasquez — one of the many lawyers Johnny’s hired to rep him in his trial against Amber Heard — tell TMZ … there’s speculation something’s going on between her and JD … but it’s nothing more than fan fiction from social media. Waiting for your permission to load TikTok Post. Put differently, we’re told they are definitely NOT dating — despite what some people think they see happening in the courtroom. Indeed, several TikTok and Twitter users have jumped to the conclusion … these two are in a relationship based on their interactions in court. Waiting for your permission to load TikTok Post. Fact is … Johnny and Camille look quite comfortable around each other … to the point that they seem to be constantly touching in a somewhat intimate manner. To that point, our sou

Oliveira, Esparza and Chandler win

Charles Oliveira made quick work of Justin Gaethje Saturday at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, winning by submission at 3:22 of the first round. The former lightweight champion, who was stripped of his belt after missing championship weight Friday by a half pound, becomes the division’s No. 1 contender and will compete for the vacant title in his next fight. In the co-main event, Carla Esparza did just enough versus Rose Namajunas to win via split decision and regain the strawweight title she first won eight years ago in the finale of the 20th season of “The Ultimate Fighter.” UFC 274 live blog UFC 274 main card full results Lightweight: Charles Oliveira def. Charles Oliveira explains what happened before his weight miss for UFC 274

Charles Oliveira knew he was on weight for his fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274 on Saturday night. But when ‘Do Bronx’ stepped on the scale at official weigh-ins, the weight announced was not what he expected to hear. Oliveira weighed in at 155.5 pounds, a half-pound over the championship limit. A stunned Oliveira was given one more hour to lose the extra 0.5 pounds, but it would not be enough as he weighed in again at 155.5 pounds. The UFC then revealed that he would not only forfeit a percentage of his purse, but would also be stripped of his lightweight title as soon as his fight with Gaethje starts. The soon-to-be-former champion was adamant he did everything right during his weight cut, telling Megan Olivi during the ESPN ceremonial weigh-in show that he stopped eating and drinking on Thursday once he hit championship weight. So for him to miss the target outright was odd. “The champion has a name. His name is Charles Oliveira,” said Oliveira through an interpreter. “

S&P Futures Lower After Wall Street Rout

The ongoing rout in growth stocks deepened in premarket trading Friday, as investors dumped shares of high-flying technology companies and sought shelter in companies that stand to benefit from elevated commodity prices. Companies that were once pandemic darlings fell before the opening bell. Peloton Interactive Inc. sank 1.4%, Zoom Video Communications Inc. fell 0.8%, Wayfair Inc. lost 0.4%. Mega-cap technology companies were also unspared, as investors edged out of shares of Google parent Alphabet Inc. Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. and Microsoft Corp., all of which fell at least 0.4%. This year’s market volatility has forced investors to aggressively unwind pandemic-era bets as money managers contend with the impact of higher rates. When yields on bonds rise that diminishes the allure of stocks whose earnings are expected to come far into the future. Many investors have rotated into companies that stand to benefit from this year’s boom in commodities. That dynamic was on
